Pastrytown: Pistachio Ice Cream
Forget it Jake, It’s Pastrytown.
Of all the ice boxes in all the foam joints in all the world, this Pistachio Ice Cream BA Stout had to drop into mine.
I noticed its full, smooth body as soon as it rolled through the door. “Dang,” I muttered. “What’s a bottle like that doing in a place like this?” I kept my guard up — usually these succulent Stouts from Other Half don’t stray far from the Big Apple. And even in The City that Never Sleeps, a 14% ABV stunner like this can tempt an unsuspecting mug into an early bedtime.
But not me. No way was I falling for some jet-black beauty who wandered in off the app. At least not without getting all the facts.
Turns out, this looker was packing more moxie than a sawbuck speakeasy. The big city brewers bolstered this beer with a 15-20 month bid in bourbon barrels. Then they gave it a one-way ticket to tastyville with burly additions of vanilla ice cream, coconut, toasted coconut, and pistachio.
So when this stuff smacks you in the kisser, you’ll be riding a river of fudgy flavors all the way to dreamland. And when those tropical tinges and nutty nuances drop you off at the creamy finish, you aren’t ever going to want to go home.
But here’s the high sign: we’ve only got 203 bottles of this top-end hooch, and there’ll be plenty of lugs given’ it the eyeball.
Miss this one, and you can forget it, Tavourster. It’s Pastrytown.
